Terms of Use
Last updated: October 4, 2026
By creating an account or using Ancestale, you agree to these terms. They are short on purpose.
The service
Ancestale helps you write your family's story, build family trees and share them with whoever you choose.
Your account
You must be at least 13 years old (16 in the European Union where applicable) and keep your sign-in details safe. You are responsible for what happens in your account.
Your content
The content you create stays yours. You allow us to store it and display it according to the visibility you choose.
When you add other people, especially living relatives, be careful and respectful. Data of living people is hidden from anyone outside the family.
AI-written stories
Stories and translations written by AI use only what the family recorded, but they can still contain mistakes. Review them before sharing; you are responsible for what you publish.
Appropriate use
You agree not to:
- publish content that is unlawful, offensive or violates the rights of others;
- harass or expose people, or disclose someone's sensitive data without permission;
- try to bypass security, overload or abuse the service.
Ending use
You can delete your content and your account at any time. We may suspend accounts that violate these terms.
Warranties and liability
The service is provided “as is”, with no guarantee of continuous availability. Keep a copy of anything that matters to you.
Changes
If these terms change, we will update the date at the top of the page.
